VPN - First-Time Access

Requirements:

- Windows, MacOS, iOS, Android
Steps for Windows or MacOS:
- Navigate to vpn.ncmich.edu using a web browser (e.g. Google Chrome).
- Sign into the VPN website using your NCMC username and portal password. Only the first part of your username is needed, not the full email address.
- Once you successfully sign in, click the download link for the appropriate VPN client version based on your computer's operating system (e.g. Microsoft Windows, MacOS).
- After the download completes, run the downloaded file to install the VPN client and follow the installer instructions.
- Once installation is finished, find GlobalProtect in your start menu and run the program.
- When the client opens, it will pop up in the menu bar with a box asking for the portal address, use "vpn.ncmich.edu" for this.
- After submitting the URL, it will ask for a username and password. Use the same username and password you used to download the VPN client.
- After submitting your credentials, it should turn on the VPN. When you are finished with the VPN, please remember to turn off, or disable, the VPN.
Steps for iOS or Android:
- Get GlobalProtect app from App Store or Google Play Store, depending on your mobile device OS.
- Once the app is installed, open it and enter "vpn.ncmich.edu" for the portal address.
- Log into the app using your NCMC username and portal password. Only the username is needed, without the full email address.
- After submitting your credentials, it should automatically enable the VPN on your device. Please remember to disable the VPN when you are done using it.
- For iOS users only, you must change your iOS VPN settings to disable the VPN. The app itself will not allow you to disable the VPN. To disable using your iOS settings, open up the settings app and look for VPN options.
