Mastercam - Borrow License

Mastercam normally requires an active connection to our campus network in order to check-in with the licensing server. If planning to use Mastercam off campus, a license must first be "borrowed' from the licensing server. You must be on the campus network in order to borrow a license, but once borrowed, Mastercam will work off campus.

Licenses are limited and should only be borrowed on an as needed basis and for only the length of time required. The maximum borrow time is 10 days, in which the device must request to borrow again by connecting to the campus network and following the steps to borrow again. When a license is borrowed, it is removed from the pool of available licenses, which could impact active classes on campus that need licensing; please be considerate.

WARNING - Do not borrow a license when connected to a docking station or other network adapter accessory. The borrowed license is checked out to a network adapter's MAC address and needs to stay connected to the device even when not on the campus network.

  1. Start License Borrow Utility on the client machine by clicking Start > All Apps > Mastercam Licensing Utilities > License Borrow Utility.
  2. Select File, then Options.
  3. Set the number of days needed and click Ok.
  4. Check boxes for appropriate licenses required.
  5. Click Borrow Licenses button.
